This week: Congress returns with busy lineup of hearings
Congress is back in Washington, D.C. this week. With several hearings of note taking place, America’s Credit Unions will continue to keep credit union industry priorities top-of-mind with lawmakers.
Of note, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell will provide a semiannual monetary policy report to Congress this week, with appearances before the Senate Banking Committee and House Financial Services Committee scheduled for tomorrow and Wednesday, respectively.
Also happening this week:
- Tomorrow, the NCUA kicks off its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Summit in Minneapolis;
- Tomorrow, the House Financial Services Committee will hear from Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on the state of the international financial system;
- Wednesday, the House Small Business Committee will hold a hearing to review the current economic landscape;
- Thursday, the agenda for the NCUA’s July board meeting will be released; and
- Friday, the House Financial Services Committee will hold a field hearing in Lexington, Ky., on financial institution-fintech partnerships.
