This week: America’s Credit Unions advocates for credit union priorities

This week, the Senate is in session on Capitol Hill while House members work in their home districts. America’s Credit Unions continues to advocate for industry priorities with lawmakers and regulators, including the NCUA.

The House Ways and Means committee advanced the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act Friday with a 40-3 vote. The bipartisan tax bill—announced earlier last week—makes no changes to the credit union tax status. America’s Credit Unions is monitoring its proposed changes to the Employee Retention Tax Credit.

Thursday, America’s Credit Unions will monitor a Senate Banking Committee hearing to discuss the reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and will advocate for NFIP funding and improvements. The NFIP was reauthorized through March 8 in a government funding extension passed by Congress last week.

The hearing – happening at 10 a.m. Eastern – will be available on the committee’s website.

Of note, the America’s Credit Unions Business Lending Roundtable begins tomorrow. During the two-day event, attendees will have the opportunity to learn from each other through dynamic discussions on the latest challenges, opportunities, and trends in commercial lending products and services. View the 2024 America’s Credit Unions event lineup
