Year 3 | Commercial Lending Finale

Course Description 

The Year 3 Commercial Lending Finale course caps off the certification program, allowing participants to bring together and apply concepts from credit analysis, credit administration, and business development. Through collaborative activities, class participation, and expert guidance, attendees will learn how to lead a commercial transaction from initial relationship-building and prospecting through decision-making and portfolio management. This final course synthesizes skills gained in Years 1 and 2, equipping participants with a comprehensive approach to establishing a thriving commercial lending department within their credit union.

  • Building a portfolio that meets the mission and risk tolerance of your credit union
  • Creating credit presentations that satisfy the program in its entirety
  • Managing expectations of risk and portfolio growth
  • Integrating a solid credit philosophy within the organization
  • Beyond loans – What other products and services are needed for businesses?
  • Working with the credit administration department and underwriters for common goals

Audience

Year 3 brings the attendees from the specialized tracks of Year 2 together to contribute to the ongoing success of a high-functioning commercial lending department. Attendees will include senior lending managers, commercial/business lending department managers, business development officers, and credit analysts.

Prerequisites

Attending Year 1 & Year 2 (one specific track) and successfully completing the coursework and exams are required prior to registering for Year 3. 

Designation Requirements

Attending Year 3 and successfully completing the corresponding exam is the third and final step required in attending all three years of the Business Lending Certification School to ultimately earn the designation.
