Welcome to Certified Credit Union Board Member eSchool. This on-demand training offers nine flexible, self-paced sessions, each designed to support the essential aspects of your role.
To enhance the exam experience, America’s Credit Unions completed an exam system conversion on January 6, 2025. All registrants have been provided with updated exam instructions. Please make note of the following deadlines and important upcoming exam-related changes.
Important Deadlines and Exam Administration Requirements
- Certifed Credit Union Supervisory Committee Member eSchool training access expires: December 31, 2025
- Deadline to take your exam: December 31, 2025
- Exam administration and requirements:
- Passing grade: 70%
- Open book: test takers may use notes and resources.
- Proctor: not required
- Exam time limit: three hours. Once you begin, pausing the exam is not an option, the exam must be completed within the allotted time.

After successful completion of the sessions and the exam, you will earn your Certified Credit Union Board Member (CCUB) designation. To access your certificate, navigate to americascreditunions.org > login > Member Portal > Designations/Certifications. Recertification is required every three years. Visit and bookmark the CCUB designation page to easily access recertification training options.
Important Future Exam Administration & Requirements Changes
Coming in 2026, new versions of this eSchool will require completing a closed book exam with a score of 80% or more to earn the CCUB designation.
Session 1: Fundamentals of Finance for Directors
Speaker: Tim Harrington
Every director should have a basic understanding of their financial statements, the trends and important ratios. Members depend on you. Through this course, you will review basic financial statements and other financial reports, as well as ratios and trends.

Session 2: Asset Liability Management for Directors
Speaker: Tim Harrington
Asset Liability Management (ALM) is about risk and how credit unions manage their growth risk. Through this course, you will be introduced to different types of risk and how they are managed.

Session 6: CEO Oversight for Directors

The board only has one employee, the CEO. The board’s role in overseeing the CEO is critical to the mission and objectives of the credit union.
