America’s Credit Unions keeps industry perspective top-of-mind for lawmakers
Since March, an America’s Credit Unions representative has testified before Congress on behalf of the credit union industry four times – the most appearances by any financial trade organization.
Great Lakes Credit Union Chief Operating Officer Elizabeth Osborne testified before the House Financial Services Committee on financial services technology just before lawmakers returned to their districts for the August recess. She provided the credit union perspective on how artificial intelligence (AI) has already helped credit unions better serve their members.
America’s Credit Unions Transition Board Secretary—and Commonwealth Credit Union President/CEO—Karen Harbin testified before a House Financial Services subcommittee in March and earlier this month.
America’s Credit Unions’ Small Credit Union Committee Chair—and Afena Federal Credit Union President/CEO—Karen Madry testified before the Senate Banking Committee in May.
Now, as lawmakers remain home amid the August recess, credit union advocates have the opportunity to meet with key decision-makers and address issues of concern face-to-face in their own communities. America’s Credit Unions has several messaging resources – including talking points, one-pagers, and more – on the industry’s top issues to assist credit unions in these efforts.
The House and Senate will return to Capitol Hill following the Labor Day holiday, just as America’s Credit Unions Congressional Caucus begins in Washington, D.C., September 8 – 11.
