America’s Credit Unions leads unified strategy ahead of NDAA debate

As Congress prepares for debate on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) when it returns from August recess, America’s Credit Unions is taking a leading role in advancing policies critical to credit unions. Working hand-in-hand with league partners and collaborating with key industry allies like the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC), America’s Credit Unions is pursuing every legislative avenue to protect and promote credit union priorities.

“America’s Credit Unions, in close collaboration with our League partners, continues to actively pursue every available legislative opportunity to advance credit union–specific priorities," said America's Credit Unions Chief Advocacy Officer Carrie Hunt. "Together, we strategically engage with fellow industry allies—such as the Defense Credit Union Council —to identify and leverage potential pathways, including the NDAA, to achieve meaningful legislative wins for credit unions nationwide. This united front ensures that our collective voice is both amplified and effective in securing policies that strengthen and protect the credit union movement.”

In recent weeks, America’s Credit Unions’ approach has evolved from supporting a “clean” NDAA to actively advocating for the inclusion of pro–credit union provisions within the bill. This strategic shift reflects the dynamic nature of the legislative process and ensures that America’s Credit Unions is maximizing every opportunity to embed meaningful reforms that benefit credit unions and their members. By staying agile and engaged, America’s Credit Unions is positioning the movement for stronger legislative outcomes in this year’s NDAA
