Credit union-backed candidate wins in Arizona special election

Credit union-supported Adelita Grijalva, D, won the special election in Arizona’s 7th Congressional District Tuesday. Grijalva fills the seat left open by the death of her father, Rep. Raúl Grijalva, D, and will serve the remaining 15 months of his term.

Adelita Grijalva was supported by the America’s Credit Unions PAC, the GoWest Credit Union Association, and Arizona credit unions in the race for this Congressional seat. She is a credit union member who supports the industry’s work in underserved communities and served on the Pima County board from 2021 until she resigned this year to run for Congress.
