Credit union backed Suozzi wins N.Y. special election
Former Rep. Tom Suozzi, D-N.Y., won election to Congress Tuesday, defeating Republican challenger Mazi Pilip to represent New York’s 3rd Congressional District. The seat was left open by the expulsion of former Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y.
Suozzi supported credit unions during his previous time in Congress from 2017 to 2023 , and was supported in Tuesday’s election by America’s Credit Unions – through CULAC – and the New York Credit Union Association.
He will serve through the remainder of the 118th Congress.
