Global celebration on International Credit Union Day

The global credit union movement celebrated the 77th annual International Credit Union Day Thursday with volunteer events, open houses, awareness campaigns, and more activities to  highlight the differences credit unions make every day. More than 412 million people across 101 countries belong to a credit union, according to the World Council of Credit Unions, and this year’s theme was “Cooperation for a Prosperous World.”

The League of Credit Unions and Affiliates posted messages of support from legislators across the states it represents, including Sens. Mark Warner, D-Va. and Katie Britt, R-Ala.
Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen and Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers issued proclamations naming Thursday International Credit Union Day.

Leagues hosted or participated in volunteer events around their communities, while credit unions created online posts about the credit union difference, or provided treats for members in branches.
