GoWest, Cornerstone Leagues welcome members of Congress
With federal lawmakers back home in their districts in advance of the November elections, credit union leaders are meeting with members of Congress and policymakers across the country – including Colorado, Arkansas and Texas.
Cornerstone League recently brought leaders together with credit union champion Rep. French Hill, R-Ark., at TruService Community Federal Credit Union in Little Rock, Ark. The group discussed fraud and other issues with HIll, who serves as chair of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Inclusion.
Texas credit union advocates met with Rep. Brian Babin, R-Texas, when Community Resource Credit Union hosted an in-district event to discuss issues impacting credit unions, members, and Texas communities.
The GoWest Credit Union Association welcomed credit union champion Rep. Brittany Pettersen,D-Colo., who introduced the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund Transparency Act this session, at its annual MAXX conference in Denver. Petterson addressed the full conference, after appearing earlier this year at America’s Credit Unions 2024 Congressional Caucus.
Her legislation would require Congressional testimony on the Treasury’s CDFI Fund's operations and activities.
The event also welcomed Colorado state House candidates and credit union supporters Jeff Crank and Jeff Hurd, and USDA Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of External and Intergovernmental Affairs Rudy Soto, who addressed the conference and encouraged credit unions to partner with the USDA in serving rural communities.
