ICYMI: Exploring opportunities during Hispanic Heritage Month

With Hispanic Heritage Month winding down next week, The Filene Research Institute estimates that small business account for 99% of all U.S. business, provide 46.4% of private sector employment and contribute 43.5% to the economy’s GDP, and demographically, Latinos and Hispanics have led new business creation for the past 20 years.

America’s Credit Unions Senior Economist Ligia Vado took part in several outreach efforts to share more details and data about the Hispanic impact and credit union opportunities.

Vado:

  • Provided key insights on the continued growth of the U.S. Hispanic population, how credit unions can serve those communities, and unique needs and trends they should address in America’s Credit Unions’ latest Economic Update video; and
  • Participated in a panel on financial readiness with the Network of Latino Credit Unions and Professionals on how credit unions can leverage resources and education to help these communities build generational wealth.

Hispanic Heritage Month takes place Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.
