Illinois Credit Union League opens collection showcasing community impact

The Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) announced the opening of its inaugural Credit Unions in Action (CUIA) data collection initiative, inviting credit unions across Illinois to share their 2025 community impact stories and service efforts.

The CUIA initiative gathers information on financial education, charitable giving, volunteerism, and community engagement to demonstrate the collective impact of Illinois credit unions. The data will support advocacy efforts, legislative outreach, and public awareness campaigns that highlight the industry’s commitment to strengthening local communities.

“Every credit union has powerful stories to tell about the lives they change and the communities they serve,” said Libby Calderone, president/CEO of ICUL. “When we bring those stories together, we create a compelling narrative that shows policymakers and the public the true value of the credit union movement. Credit Unions in Action allows us to elevate those voices and amplify our shared impact.”

Participating credit unions are encouraged to designate a project lead to coordinate its submission and serve as the primary liaison with the league team.

“Credit Unions in Action is how we bring our impact to life,” said Melissa Vidito, director of marketing and communications at ICUL. “By sharing their stories, credit unions show the difference they make in every community while strengthening our collective voice and building pride across our system.”
