League system collaborates on future federal, state advocacy strategy

The credit union league system joined together to collaborate on proactive, aligned state and federal advocacy strategies for the remainder of 2025 and beginning of 2026 at the second annual American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL) Advocacy Strategy Summit.

“The strong turnout and active participation were a powerful reflection of our shared commitment to strategic alignment and collective progress across the League system,” said AACUL Director of Advocacy Austin De Bey. “The time, insights, and dedication to advancing advocacy across the system were greatly appreciated and critical to our continued progress.”

The meeting took place in Denver and brought more than 80 credit union league leaders together with staff from AACUL, America’s Credit Unions, and TruStage. The attendees addressed several key themes, from ensuring future relevance for credit unions and preparing for emerging issues, to maintaining coordinated, consistent messaging and the importance of continuing to unify around shared goals.

“The reason this summit is so powerful is that our time together goes well beyond conversation and conjecture. The trust we have in each other and in the League system allows for thought-provoking, frank, and productive conversation,” shared Samantha Beeler, AACUL Advocacy Committee chair and The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates president. “We came away with several concrete next steps and action items that support our common goal – a thriving credit union industry.”
