Listen: How Simpson’s first weeks in new role have shaped strategy
Sitting down with A CU Seat at the Table podcast, America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Scott Simpson discusses the organization’s 2026 advocacy priorities and how his conversations with industry leaders in the first weeks of his tenure have shaped strategy at the organization.
“Holding up the marketplace is not getting easier for credit unions,” Simpson says, noting he appreciates the opportunity to meet with industry leaders and hear about the daily challenges credit union CEOs face across the country. “It’s not getting easier. It’s more complex. The threat environment is more complex, and that gives me this heightened sense of urgency about everything that we do,” he said.
Simpson and host Anthony Demangone discussed best practices for handling a divided political climate, as well as the role credit unions play in fostering fruitful relationships with lawmakers. “Just showing up and bringing your story: that’s the most important thing you can do,” Simpson said.
He also detailed the top issues the America’s Credit Unions Advocacy team will focus on, noting that the approach will include both defensive efforts and going on the offense with an overall goal to “do everything we can to lift up and help credit unions survive.”
