Nussle: Unified voice amplifies credit union advocacy efforts

Credit unions must work together to amplify advocacy efforts and achieve results for the industry, America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Jim Nussle wrote to members Monday.

He wrote that the unified voice of America’s Credit Unions is needed to effectively counter misinformation.

“The cooperative spirit of the credit union industry is what sets us apart, and that approach to advocacy is what will ensure our success,” added Nussle.

Nussle outlined three ways credit unions can bolster the organization’s advocacy:

  • register for the 2024 Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC), happening March 3-7 in Washington, D.C., to help highlight the credit union difference on Capitol Hill;
  • confirm their credit union can participate in political action committee (PAC) activity and sign the PAC permission agreement; and
  • run Project Zip Code—a secure program that matches credit union members to congressional districts—prior to GAC to help the organization elevate its advocacy efforts.

America’s Credit Unions will continue working hard to advance credit union priorities
