Rep. Craig highlights credit union difference on House floor

Rep. Angie Craig, D-Minn., Tuesday spoke on the House floor about the role credit unions play in their communities.

“As not-for-profit, member-owned financial institutions, credit unions work every day to improve the financial well-being of American households and communities,” Craig said.

She highlighted the work of the 86 chartered credit unions in Minnesota, noting it is estimated that credit unions in the state provided more than $227 million in direct financial benefit. She added that credit unions play a vital role in her district, including their support for local athletic programs, veterans' organizations, and community events.

“This month, credit unions in Minnesota – and nationwide – will be represented by the newly-launched America’s Credit Unions to better serve the more than 140 million people who rely on them for financial well-being,” Craig said. “I am a proud supporter of Minnesota and America’s Credit Unions in Congress.”

America’s Credit Unions will continue emphasizing the important role of credit unions in the American economy.
