Share input on NCUA dependent care proposal
A new America’s Credit Unions Regulatory Comment alert solicits feedback on the NCUA’s proposed rulemaking to reimburse expenses incurred by federal credit union board members for dependent care.
The proposal would give federal credit union boards the option to adopt policies that allow board member reimbursement for dependent care expenses incurred when they attend board meetings or perform other official business. This would give credit unions greater flexibility to adopt family-friendly policies while preserving board discretion.
Responding to member credit union concerns, America’s Credit Unions led advocacy efforts calling on the NCUA to propose this rule for nearly two years. The proposal was issued in January.
The Regulatory Comment alert sent to members Thursday breaks down the proposal and poses questions for credit unions to consider when providing feedback. Comments provided to America’s Credit Unions by March 13 will help inform the organization’s comment letter to the NCUA; comments can be submitted via the Regulatory Comment alert.
