Sharing credit union priorities with Treasury leadership

Treasury’s second-highest ranking official heard directly about the credit union difference as America’s Credit Unions brought industry issues and concerns to the forefront with Treasury Deputy Secretary Michael Faulkender in a meeting Monday.  

President/CEO Jim Nussle, Chief Advocacy Officer Carrie Hunt, Senior Vice President of Advocacy Greg Mesack, and Head of Regulatory Advocacy James Akin voiced the credit union perspective on several topics, including: 

• Fraud and payments;
• The Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund;
• Reductions at the CFPB; and
• The importance of an independent NCUA.

America's Credit Unions regularly engages with the Treasury Department. Most recently, members of the America’s Credit Unions Advocacy Team participated in a roundtable focused on updating the federal disbursement process and met with the Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Policy earlier this month.
