This week, America’s Credit Unions remains engaged on Capitol Hill as lawmakers near the Jan. 19 deadline to secure government funding for four appropriations measures, including Agriculture, Energy, Veterans, Transportation and Housing programs, amongst others. Funding for eight other appropriations bills that fund other areas of the government expires Feb. 2. Congress released a proposal over the weekend that would extend some funding through March 1 and the rest through March 8.

Of note, America’s Credit Unions Sunday kicked off the Credit Union Board of Directors Conference, where attendees will gain the knowledge and insight needed to develop forward-focused policies that improve the financial lives of members and the communities their credit union serves. • Wednesday, the House Financial Services Committee will discuss international financing of nuclear energy;
• Thursday, the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing to provide oversight of the SEC’s proposed climate disclosure rule;
• Thursday, the Senate Banking Committee will meet on outpacing China in emerging technology;
• Thursday, the NCUA Board will meet for the first time this year (see what’s on the agenda); and 
• Thursday, the House Small Business Committee will hold a hearing examining capital access for Main Street.
