This week: America’s Credit Unions monitors Super Tuesday results, several hearings, more
This week, America’s Credit Unions hosts the Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, D.C., bringing together thousands of credit union leaders to advocate on behalf of their members. In addition, the organization will remain active on Capitol Hill and will monitor several hearings relevant to the industry.
Tomorrow is Super Tuesday and America’s Credit Unions PAC is supporting 85 candidates: six in Alabama, three in Arkansas, 46 in California, three in North Carolina, and 27 in Texas. Credit unions in these states who have traveled to D.C. for GAC were encouraged to vote ahead of the elections; credit union members can learn where and how to vote at CreditUnionsVote.com. America’s Credit Unions will monitor the outcome of the elections and provide members with relevant updates.
Hearings of note happening this week include:
- Wednesday, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell will appear before the House Financial Services Committee to present the Fed’s Semi-Annual Monetary Policy Report to Congress;
- Thursday, the House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing to review the impact of politicized financial regulation on consumer credit and community development;
- Thursday, Powell will appear before the Senate Banking Committee; and
- Friday, the CFPB’s Credit Union Advisory Council will meet.
