This week: BSA modernization hearing, primaries in six states
May 18, 2026
Both chambers of Congress are in Washington, D.C., this week, with a Senate floor vote expected on reconciliation 2.0. America’s Credit Unions will remain engaged this week to keep any tax-related amendments out.
The House is also expected to consider an amended version of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act (H.R. 6644).
Hearings of note include:
- House Financial Services Committee hearing on Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) modernization Thursday. America’s Credit Unions has consistently advocated for updating BSA reporting thresholds (many have not been updated in decades) and other modernizations to ease regulatory burdens;
- House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection hearing on cybersecurity’s role in protecting communities.
Following last week’s primaries in Louisiana, Nebraska and West Virginia, America’s Credit Unions PAC will support 41 candidates in Tuesday’s primaries in Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.
The Credit Union Election Hub has the latest primary election results and will be updated after Tuesday’s elections.
