This week: Congressional hearings resume, NCUA meeting, town hall sessions

Both chambers of Congress are back in Washington, D.C., for the lame duck session, and committee hearings are underway. America’s Credit Unions will engage with these hearings and also monitor the NCUA’s board meeting.

Meetings and hearings scheduled this week:

  • The Senate Judiciary Committee will conduct a hearing on interchange titled: “Breaking the Visa-Mastercard Duopoly: Bringing Competition and Lower Fees to the Credit Card System,” Tuesday at 10 a.m. Eastern;
  • Federal regulators, including NCUA Chairman Todd Harper, are scheduled to testify at a House Financial Services Committee hearing Wednesday at 10 a.m. Eastern;
  • The Senate Banking Committee is conducting a hearing, “Tax Policy in 2025: Implications for the American Economy,”  Wednesday at 2 p.m.;
  • The NCUA is hosting its monthly board meeting on Thursday at 10 a.m. Eastern; and 
  • The NCUA will hold its 2025-2026 budget briefing on Friday at 10 a.m. Eastern including a presentation by America’s Credit Unions.

America’s Credit Unions will host free virtual town hall sessions on Tuesday for midsize credit unions and Wednesday for large credit unions starting at 1 p.m. Eastern. Both are closed to press.

America’s Credit Unions will continue to keep members up to date with the latest out of Washington D.C.
