This week: House returns, Senate back in districts; America’s Credit Unions monitoring CU priorities
This week, the House returns to Washington, D.C. while Senate members are back home in their districts. America’s Credit Unions will monitor several hearings of note for credit unions, as well as tomorrow’s primary elections happening in Colorado, New York and Utah.
America’s Credit Unions PAC is supporting three candidates in Utah, five candidates in Colorado, and 22 candidates in New York. Credit union-backed candidates have a success rate over 98% so far in the 2024 cycle. America’s Credit Unions’ Credit Union Elections Hub continues to track election results from the primaries through the general election.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee is scheduled to markup the American Privacy Rights Act at the full committee level on Thursday. America’s Credit Unions has expressed concerns about the legislation and its potential impact on credit unions.
Also happening this week:
- Wednesday, the House Financial Services Housing and Insurance Subcommittee will provide oversight of the Housing and Urban Development and Federal Housing Finance Agency Inspectors General;
- Wednesday, the House Financial Services Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy Subcommittee will tackle stress testing; and
- Thursday, the House Financial Services Capital Markets Subcommittee will review Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler’s equity market structure reforms.
Of note, the deadline to apply for 2024 Community Development Revolving Loan Fund (CDRLF) grants is next Monday, July 1. Low-income designated credit unions are encouraged to apply; learn more about the CDRLF grant round.
