This week: Senate in session, regulation and privacy hearings scheduled

The Senate is in Washington, D.C., for the early part of this week, while the House has already left for August recess. Credit unions are encouraged to connect with policymakers over the recess to advance credit union legislative priorities.

Several hearings of interest to credit unions are scheduled for Wednesday, including:

  • 2 p.m. Eastern: Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Border Management, Federal Workforce, and Regulatory Affairs hearing on Congress’s role in the post-Loper Bright regulatory landscape;
  • 2:30 p.m. Eastern: Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology, and the Law hearing on protecting Americans’ online data; and
  • 3:30 p.m. Eastern: Senate Special Committee on Aging hearing on combating elder abuse and neglect.

America’s Credit Unions and leagues will continue to engage policymakers on credit union priorities through the August recess. America’s Credit Unions’ Resource Library has several resources available on priority issues. In addition, continuing the momentum built during the tax campaign and through August recess, Congressional Caucus will take these conversations directly to Capitol Hill; learn more and register for the event, happening Sept. 7-9, online.
