This week: Thousands of credit union advocates in D.C. for record-breaking GAC 2026

The House and Senate are both in session, and thousands of credit union advocates are in Washington, D.C. this week. The 2026 Governmental Affairs Conference kicked off Sunday, with opening keynote speaker Kindra Hall reviewing the power of strategic storytelling with attendees as they prepare to engage lawmakers on credit union priorities this week.  

As the event concludes, an America’s Credit Unions witness will testify before the House Financial Services Committee on Thursday where the credit union perspective on how the industry protects its members from fraud will be shared with lawmakers. The committee also has a markup scheduled for Wednesday, in addition to a hearing on self-regulatory organizations scheduled for Thursday. The Senate is expected to continue work on the floor on comprehensive housing legislation this week.

The 2026 election cycle kicks off with primaries tomorrow in Arkansas, North Carolina, and Texas. America’s Credit Unions PAC is supporting four candidates in Arkansas, eight candidates in North Carolina, and 22 candidates in Texas in the state’s highly competitive primary environment.  

Both Texas and North Carolina state legislatures enacted mid-cycle congressional redistricting, creating new districts and significant boundary shifts that will shape the 2026 primary and general election environment. Stay tuned to Daily News for results.
