Nussle, advocacy team meet with NCUA Chairman Harper

America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Jim Nussle and members of the organization’s advocacy team met with NCUA Chairman Todd Harper Thursday at the NCUA’s headquarters in Alexandria, Va.

“Thank you to Chairman Harper and his staff for their time and great discussion today on how the NCUA and America’s Credit Unions can support policies to increase access to safe and affordable financial services at credit unions,” Nussle said. “We look forward to continued collaboration with the NCUA on encouraging innovation, providing flexibility, and continuing to ensure credit unions remain consumers’ best financial partners.”

The discussion covered America’s Credit Unions’ policy priorities, including the overly broad use of “junk fees,” field of membership expansion, increased flexibility for credit union investments, and credit unions’ participation in the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.

The group also addressed upcoming call report changes as detailed in America’s Credit Unions’ Compliance Blog.

Nussle met with NCUA Vice Chairman Kyle Hauptman and Board Member Tanya Otsuka last month, and America’s Credit Unions continues to engage the agency on credit union priorities.
