Rep. Calvert congratulates America’s Credit Unions

Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Calif., congratulated America’s Credit Unions on its transformation, recognizing the unified voice for the credit union industry and his high expectations for the new organization.

“As a long-time credit union member and supporter, I appreciate the difference between credit unions and banks. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that are democratically controlled,” he added.

Calvert also called attention to the work of the 263 credit unions in his home state of California, which serve a combined 14 million members. He noted that “credit unions consistently rank as the most popular form of depository institutions in America.”

Reps. Juan Ciscomani, R-Ariz., Angie Craig, D-Minn., Young Kim, R-Calif., and Scott Fitzgerald, R-Wis., have made statements in support of credit unions and the new national trade association since the start of the year.

America’s Credit Unions will continue to engage lawmakers to highlight the credit union difference and progress industry priorities.
