This week: Fighting for credit union priorities in the NDAA

While Congress remains out on the August recess, lawmakers are submitting amendments to the FY 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). America’s Credit Unions continues to push for pro-credit union amendments and defend against potential interchange or other harmful additions.

Today is the deadline to submit comments on short-term debt obligations to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The request focuses on how short-term debt obligations, such as buy now, pay later (BNPL) lending, may impact consumers’ capacity to manage housing-related expenses, such as rent or mortgage payments. America’s Credit Unions solicited member feedback via a Regulatory Comment alert and will submit comments to HUD.

Registration is open for credit unions to attend the NCUA’s Strategic Plan Town Hall on Sept. 9. The event will be a moderated virtual discussion open to credit unions, leagues, CUSOs, and industry trades. Register now.
