Credit unions and leagues make an impact in D.C.
Credit union advocates from all corners of the country visited with lawmakers and regulators last week in Washington, D.C., holding multiple Hike the Hills and regulatory meetings.
Utah’s Credit Unions met with their entire delegation following America’s Credit Unions Congressional Caucus, with advocates sharing key credit union concerns and thanking them for their support of credit unions across the state.
Kentucky’s Credit Unions also met with their full delegation, highlighting credit unions’ impact on keeping financial services accessible and affordable and legislation that could help them do even more.
Luminate – Louisiana’s Credit Unions brought credit union leaders to meetings throughout the Capitol, including visits with House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise.
Montana’s Credit Unions also brought their message of the credit union difference to Capitol Hill. The group met with Sens. Steve Daines and Tim Sheehy, as well as Rep. Troy Downing.
Leaders from Montana joined with the Wisconsin Credit Union League and Minnesota Credit Union Network in a meeting with NCUA Board Chairman Kyle Hauptman and 65 credit union representatives.
The Ohio Credit Union League also met with Hauptman. They coordinated multiple Hill visits bringing credit union leaders together with policymakers to address fraud, affordable financial services, and other pressing issues for members.
In addition to Hill visits that included Reps. Pete Aguilar and Young Kim, California’s Credit Unions met with the Federal Housing Finance Agency to discuss affordable housing and credit unions’ focus on these issues.
The League of Credit Unions held multiple meetings with lawmakers in their represented states. Alabama credit union leaders sat down with Sens. Tommy Tuberville and Katie Britt while Florida credit unions met with Sen. Ashley Moody and Reps. Gus Bilirakis, Randy Fine, and Laurel Lee. The meetings highlighted credit union impact on local communities and key priorities.
Other Hill visits included credit union leaders from Tennessee, Georgia, Minnesota, New York, Idaho, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Nebraska.
