Credit unions raise over $1.18M for CMN Hospitals at Milwaukee event

The credit union movement came together in Milwaukee last weekend to host a fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals in the Great Lakes region. The third annual In the Cellar event raised a record $1.18 million in support of mental health resources for children and families.

The event brought together hundreds of credit union leaders, industry partners, and philanthropists.

“This year’s In the Cellar was nothing short of extraordinary. The dollars raised, combined with the growing conversation around a topic that impacts so many and is often left in the shadows, demonstrate the impact we can create when we come together with purpose,” said Tansley Stearns, board chair of In the Cellar. “Every gift will help ensure children and their families receive the care and mental health support they need and deserve.”

“It is inspiring to see us come together as a movement to make a difference in people’s lives,” said Jim Nussle, America’s Credit Unions president/CEO. “This event is one of many throughout the year that help raise awareness and funds for the life-changing care these hospitals provide to children and families across our country. The partnership between credit unions and Children’s Miracle Network is incredibly powerful, and we are proud to support the people and groups who lead these efforts.”

Credit Unions 4 Kids was recognized with the Founder’s Award by CMN Hospitals last year, making it only the seventh recipient of this rare honor. Since 1991, credit unions have raised more than $200 million for CMN Hospitals through fundraising events across the country.
