America’s Credit Unions leaders named top lobbyists for 2025
The Hill’s list of Top Lobbyists for 2025 includes America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Scott Simpson, Senior Vice President of Advocacy Greg Mesack, and Head of Legislative Advocacy Brad Thaler. The annual list honors the most effective, trusted, and influential advocates in Washington, D.C., who deliver real results for the people and industries they represent.
This recognition reflects the strength, credibility, and unified voice that America’s Credit Unions brings to Capitol Hill on behalf of more than 4,500 credit unions and the 144 million Americans they serve.
Simpson, Mesack, and Thaler were recognized for “making measurable impacts on the course of policy and politics” as “the industry’s savviest, most influential and well-connected advocates across Capitol Hill.”
"The strength of credit union advocacy is unmatched. From America's Credit Unions to the League System, individual credit unions, and industry allies, our integrated structure ensures credit unions' voice is heard at all levels of government,” said Patrick Pierce, chair, America's Credit Unions Board of Directors. “It is a tremendous honor for America's Credit Unions' leading advocates Scott Simpson, Greg Mesack, and Brad Thaler to be recognized for their work to protect our cooperative finance model. Because of our unified efforts, millions of people are able to pursue economic opportunity through credit unions. Our movement is united in fighting for policies that advance, empower, and protect credit unions, so we and our members continue to thrive for generations to come."
Thursday’s issue of The Hill also includes a joint, full-page ad by America’s Credit Unions and the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL) on the back cover reminding Congress that credit unions have been America’s trusted financial partners for more than a century.
The ad highlights how outdated constraints in the Federal Credit Union Act limit credit unions’ ability to expand access, support underserved communities, and provide the fair, affordable financial services that 94% of consumers support.
America’s Credit Unions and the League System will continue to amplify the unified voice of the credit union industry on Capitol Hill and across the country.
