FY26 NDAA heads to president’s desk

The Senate cleared the FY26 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Wednesday, following House passage last week, sending the bill to the president’s desk. The final version ultimately did not include any financial services provisions affecting credit unions.

“The final NDAA package remained largely neutral for credit unions, and we thank lawmakers for saying ‘no’ to provisions that could have harmed our industry,” said America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Scott Simpson. “We will continue working with policymakers to advance priorities that were left out of the final NDAA, related to CLF enhancements, CDFI improvements, and housing affordability, to ensure credit unions can strengthen their service to the 144 million members who rely on them.”

The NDAA was the final must-pass legislation of the year for Congress. America’s Credit Unions and leagues will continue efforts to engage Congress on enhanced Central Liquidity Facility flexibility, Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund transparency, and housing assistance. The House and Senate are expected to head home by Friday for the remainder of the year.
