Emerging Issues Committee briefed on Fed’s check services RFI

Federal Reserve staff met with members of the America’s Credit Unions’ Emerging Issues Committee Wednesday in its first scheduled meeting of 2026.  Launched last year with people from across the country and industry, the committee looks ahead to developing issues, examines the potential impact for credit unions, and provides feedback to help address the issues.

Committee members heard a briefing about the Fed’s request for information (RFI) on the future of the Reserve Banks’ check services, following up with feedback on the RFI and the credit union perspective. Comments on the RFI are due by March 9.

The Emerging Issues Committee met five times in 2025 and has a full slate of meetings scheduled in 2026, with the next scheduled for March 26.
