This week: Deregulation comments due, housing hearings

Both chambers of Congress are in Washington, D.C., this week, and comments are due today on several proposals under NCUA’s Deregulation Project

NCUA’s proposals cover guidelines for safeguarding member information; supervisory committees and audits and verifications; corporate credit unions; and response programs for unauthorized access to member information.

Comments are also due today on the CFPB’s request for comment for information collection under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act.

Hearings of interest to credit unions this week include:

  • Tuesday, the House Financial Services Committee will conduct a hearing on rising housing costs; and
  • Wednesday, the House Financial Services Committee will conduct a hearing on homeownership and the secondary mortgage market.

It's officially less than a month before the credit union movement’s largest advocacy event: Governmental Affairs Conference 2026. Registration is still open.
