Simpson shares the importance of telling the credit union story

America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Scott Simpson joined Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) President/CEO Patty Corkery on the Credit Unions, Coffee and Conversations podcast for a conversation about leadership, the upcoming Governmental Affairs Conference 2026, and sharing the credit union story in Washington, D.C.

Simpson shared his path through politics and the credit union movement that ultimately led to his role at America’s Credit Unions. Corkery and Simpson also previewed what to expect from this year’s GAC event. While it’s Simpson’s first as leader of America's Credit Unions, he’s attended the event 20+ times across his career.

“It is the one place, because of its size, that you get a sense of the breadth of the credit union movement,” Simpson said, talking about the event. “And to be able to quantify that in my head and to be around people who are fiercely devoted to cooperative finance and its defense […] is absolutely awesome.”
