Overview

Financial Counseling Certification Program (FiCEP) eSchool 2026 is a comprehensive training experience designed to equip credit union professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to guide members toward stronger financial futures.  

Through a structured webinar series and guided application of the FiCEP curriculum, participants will explore real-world financial challenges and learn how to deliver personalized, impactful counseling across a wide range of member situations.

The program blends technical expertise with behavioral insights to support members more effectively. From budgeting and credit management to complex life events like bankruptcy or financial hardship, participants gain practical tools they can apply immediately. They also prepare to earn the Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation.

Thursday, June 4, 2026 | 1:00–2:30 p.m.

During this session, we will provide an introduction to financial counseling, including counseling employees, behavior change, decision-making tools and techniques, finance and psychology, and communication principles and skills.

Thursday, June 11, 2026 | 1:00–2:30 p.m.

During this session, we will discuss successful money management traits, counseling types, the counseling process, before the initial meeting, collecting and analyzing member data, and establishing goals and
objectives.

Thursday, June 18, 2026 | 1:00–2:30 p.m.

During this session, we will discuss developing a spending plan, a debt repayment plan, and an action plan, and then implement the plan, follow up, and make adjustments. We will also cover tracking, measurement, and reporting sessions, as well as credit reports and credit scores.

Thursday, June 25, 2026 | 1:00–2:30 p.m.

During this session, we will discuss ways to increase income and decrease expenses; the principles of saving; how to establish good credit; what to do before extending credit; credit cards; medical debt; and buying vs. leasing a vehicle.

Thursday, July 9, 2026 | 1:00–2:30 p.m.

During this session, we will discuss counseling low-credit-score auto lending, vehicle repossessions, renting vs. owning a home, purchasing a home, refinancing a home loan, home equity loans, and preparing members for retirement.

Thursday, July 16, 2026 | 1:00–2:30 p.m.

During this session, we will discuss variable income and self-employment; collectors and creditors; judgments and garnishment; coaching members on how to talk to collectors and creditors; financing higher education; and counseling families, including unmarried couples and blended families.

Thursday, July 23, 2026 | 1:00–2:30 p.m.

During this session, we will discuss separation, divorce, and budgeting after divorce, eviction, seizure of goods, foreclosure, bankruptcy, life after bankruptcy, identity theft and fraud, and elder abuse.

Thursday, July 30, 2026 | 1:00–2:30 p.m.

During this session, we will discuss what to do before and after a death, referring members and possible resources, taxes, insurance, investments, and addiction.

Thursday, August 6, 2026 | 1:00–2:30 p.m.

During this session, we will discuss military veterans and their families; counseling members with justice-system involvement; overcoming member objections; developing a financial counseling and education program; and self-care for financial counselors.

Thursday, August 13, 2026 | 1:00–2:30 p.m.

Prepare for the F2000 – FiCEP exam by attending this first review session, where we will review chapters 1-30. Come prepared with questions.

Thursday, August 14, 2026 | 1:00–2:30 p.m.

This session concludes the F2000 – FiCEP exam review by discussing chapters 31-60. Come prepared with questions.
