This Week: Senate in DC, comments due on federal disbursements
June 15, 2026
The House is back home in districts while the Senate is in Washington, D.C., for a short legislative week with the Juneteenth holiday Friday.
Today, comments are due on the Treasury’s proposal to cease issuing paper checks for all federal disbursements to the extent permitted by law. The proposal is in response to an Executive Order modernizing federal disbursements.
Tomorrow is an election day in four states. This includes Oklahoma and Washington, D.C. primaries, a primary runoff in Alabama, and runoff elections in Georgia.
America’s Credit Unions is supporting:
- Rep. Barry Moore in the Alabama Republican Senate primary runoff; and
- Rob Adkerson, the former chief of staff to Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., in the Georgia runoff, who is seeking the 11th district seat left open with Loudermilk’s retirement.
The NCUA has scheduled a June 24 open board meeting, its first since April 9. An agenda may be released Thursday.
