NCUA Board nominee Crews faces confirmation hearing today

The Senate today holds a nomination hearing for NCUA Board nominee John Crews. President Trump nominated Crews to the position in May to take the seat currently held by current NCUA Chairman Kyle Hauptman.

Ahead of the hearing, America’s Credit Unions reiterated its support for Crews’ confirmation in a letter to the Senate Banking Committee.

“Mr. Crews is eminently qualified for the NCUA Board,” the letter noted. “Just a few examples of his deep financial policy experience include serving as the Staff Director for the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Securities and Insurance, Special Advisor for Economic Policy to the President, Policy Director for the full Senate Banking Committee, and as Policy Advisor to the House Majority Leader.”

The letter also highlighted the importance of providing stability to the NCUA while legal questions surround the other two NCUA Board seats. America’s Credit Unions added that it supports a full three-person board.
