Hardware Requirements

There are no specific hardware requirements for CPD —if your PC can run at least one of the browsers listed below, it can also use CPD. Keep in mind that operating systems and browsers do have their own minimum hardware requirements, and these vary by OS and browser. Check with your IT department for details.

Accessing CPD

To access CPD, you must use one of the following current supported browsers:

  • Microsoft Edge: Chromium 118.x (native mode)
  • Microsoft Edge:
  • Legacy 44.x (native mode)
  • Google Chrome 120.x 
  • Mozilla Firefox 119.x
  • Firefox ESR 115.x
  • Apple Safari 17.x

Please note: the upgraded version of CPD is compatible with Edge in native mode only.

Recommended Browser Settings

Individual browsers (such as Firefox and Chrome) may also require specific updates to their settings.  If you are experiencing difficulties accessing CPD and you have upgraded your browser to the latest version, refer to the following sections on currently supported browsers to apply additional settings.

  1. Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. At the bottom of the page, click Advanced.
  4. In the Privacy and security section, click Content settings
  5. Ensure that you configure the following options as directed. When finished, click Done.

  1. Open Safari
  2. Click the Options button on the browser toolbar
  3. Click Preferences
  4. Ensure that you configure the following tabs. When finished, close the window
  • Under Web Content:
    • Check Enable plug-ins
    • Check Enable Java
    • Check Enable JavaScript
    • Uncheck Block pop-up windows
  • Check Ask before ending a non-secure form to a secure website.
  • Under Privacy
    • Under Block cookies, select From third parties and advertisers.
    • Under Limit websites access to location services, select Prompt for each Website Once. 

  1. In Mozilla Firefox, click on the browser toolbar.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Under the Content tab:
    1. Uncheck Block Pop-Up windows.
    2. Check Accept cookies from sites.
  4. Under the Security tab:
    1. Check Warn me when sites try to install add-ones.

Note: It is mandatory to specify the above settings. You can change the other settings depending on the user's preferences. 

  1. Open Microsoft Edge
  2. Within the browser settings:
    1. Ensure you enable cookies
    2. Allow pop-ups
    3. Do not run in compatibility mode

Edge does not require any unique setting configurations.

Note: Some third-party plug-ins have not yet released versions compatible with Microsoft Edge. This may affect users' access to all features.

Mobile Application and Device Compatibility

To access CPD on your mobile app or device, you must use one of the following:

  • iPhone or iPad Running iOS 17 or 18 (does not support Native Browser)
  • iPad Running iPad OS 17 or 18 (supports Native Browser)
  • Android Phones or Tablets Running 12.x, 13.x, or 14.x (does not support Native Browser)
  • Devices Running Windows 10.x (laptops running Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Surface Pro devices only, supports Native Browser)

Please note: due to security concerns, the Mobile app is not supported on rooted devices

SumTotal Suite

  • iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or 18 (Safari on iPad only) *
  • iPad Running iPad OS 17 or 18 (Safari) *
  • Android Phones or Tablets Running 12.x, 13.x, or 14.x (Native Android Tablet Browser only) *

*Tablets are supported at 1024 x 768 resolution or higher in landscape mode.  Administration pages are not supported

Tablet Compatibility

  •  iPad with OS 17 & 18
  • Android 12.x, 13.x, & 14.x
  • Windows 10.x (Surface Pro & Laptops)

*Includes support for iPad Mini & 7-inch Android Tablets at 1024 x 768 resolution.  Only supported in landscape mode.  Administration pages are not supported.
