Thanks to the collective efforts of the entire credit union system, we successfully kept any changes to the credit union tax status out of the budget reconciliation bill signed into law on July 4.   Across the country, leagues, credit unions, other industry partners and allies came together, making our voices heard with a united message for policymakers: Don’t Tax My Credit Union.   

  • Sent 861,000 grassroots Don’t Tax My Credit Union messages directly to lawmakers.
  • Contacted all 535 Congressional offices with key data on the credit union difference.
  • Delivered dozens of letters to Congress, including joint letters from all Leagues and 700+ credit unions.
  • Held more than 1,000 meetings, from Capitol Hill to in-district.
  • Targeted a digital ad campaign to key tax writers, committee members and congressional leaders with more than 139 million ad impressions, engaging 191,000+ activists.
  • Provided independent research on the value of the credit union tax status
  • Placed 20+ op-eds and letters to the editor in national, local and trade publications.
  • Posted social media messaging from both America’s Credit Unions (570 messages, 304,729 impressions and 21,835 engagements) and #DontTaxMyCredit Union users (600+ messages, 164,119 impressions and 10,318 engagements) between Jan. 1 – July 1.
  • Partnered with Politico to highlight the credit union difference and tax status, with 17,311 page views and 6.7+ million impressions
  • Mobilized 10 content creators in an influencer campaign, reaching an audience of more than 28 million and achieved 751,155 post views
