Sessions
Accountability only works when expectations are clear, and yet most leaders significantly underestimate how much precision that requires.
This session explores the foundational principles and mindsets behind effective expectation management, equipping credit union leaders with the tools they need to define responsibilities in ways that are specific, observable, and understood.
We will examine what well-formed expectations look like in practice, why ambiguity is so costly to teams and members, and how the discipline of defining expectations applies well beyond performance conversations to project work, onboarding, and cross-functional collaboration.
Leaders will leave with a practical framework for setting and communicating expectations that supports accountability, reduces rework, and builds the clarity their teams need to perform—and to serve members—at a high level.
Motivation is the force that initiates, guides, and sustains goal-directed behavior—and it is far more complex than any single theory can fully explain.
This session introduces four research-informed lenses that credit union leaders can use to better understand what drives effort and what gets in the way: Identity (how people see themselves and their future), Belief (confidence in one’s capacity to succeed), Control (autonomy and ownership over one’s work), and Need (the fulfillment of foundational human requirements). Because leaders cannot manufacture motivation but can shape the conditions that support or suppress it, this session focuses on diagnosis as much as strategy.
In a member-driven environment where engagement and service quality are directly linked, leaders who can accurately read motivation gaps—and respond with clarity, support, and meaningful ownership—build teams that are more resilient, more consistent, and better equipped to serve.
Delegation is one of the highest-leverage skills a leader can develop, and one of the most consistently underused.
This session addresses the full scope of what effective delegation requires—not just assigning tasks, but making smart, deliberate decisions about when to delegate, who is best positioned to take something on, and how to hand off work to preserve clarity and accountability.
We will examine the common mindsets and behavioral patterns that cause leaders to hold on to work they should let go, explore how delegation extends beyond direct reports to peers and cross-functional partners, and build practical skills for scoping work, providing access and authority, and setting up team members to succeed.
For credit union leaders navigating complex operational demands and member-facing responsibilities, the ability to shift from doing the work to enabling the work is a critical transition at every level of leadership.
Feedback is one of the most powerful tools a leader has. Many leaders recognize its importance but struggle with the discomfort of delivering it well, and even fewer have a reliable approach to receiving and processing feedback directed at them.
This session addresses both sides of that equation. We will explore the Accountability Roadmap, a framework that positions feedback within the broader continuum of performance management, from setting clear expectations through ongoing course correction and, when necessary, formal accountability conversations.
From there, we will examine what makes expectations effective in the first place, walk through best practices for delivering feedback that is specific, timely, fact-based, and actionable, and introduce a four-stage model for receiving and processing feedback with intention.
In a credit union environment where team performance directly shapes member experience, leaders who build a consistent feedback culture create the conditions for sustained growth and service excellence.
