Bringing expert perspective to NCUA’s credit union roundtables
Working to share priorities for the credit union movement going forward, America’s Credit Unions advocacy leaders participated in a series of roundtables Thursday hosted by the NCUA. The roundtables are part of the agency’s recognition of America’s 250th anniversary.
The discussions included:
- Head of Regulatory Advocacy James Akin was in a panel focused on regulations, including both successful and unsuccessful past regulatory approaches, key principles in financial services rulemaking, the role of supervisory guidance, and opportunities to improve the rulemaking process.
- Director of Innovation and Technology Andrew Morris participated in a discussion on the future of the credit union movement, including the role of digital assets and artificial intelligence, as well as challenges in growing the number of credit unions and attracting qualified leaders in the movement.
Additionally, representatives from nearly 20 America’s Credit Union members participated in the panels, including an additional one highlighting innovative approaches credit unions are taking to equip children, students, and young adults with financial literacy skills.
