Credit union champions advance after Tuesday’s primaries
Credit union-supported candidates in Maine, Nevada, North Dakota, and South Carolina won all 10 primary elections Tuesday. This includes South Carolina current State Sen. Wes Climer, who won the Republican primary to succeed Rep. Ralph Norman, R, who did not seek re-election to represent the 5th Congressional District to instead run for governor.
In addition, credit union champion Rep. Young Kim, R-Calif., officially advanced to November’s election Tuesday. She will face another Republican for the seat in a newly redrawn 40th Congressional District.
“This week’s primary elections saw another slate of credit union champions win their nomination and advance to the November general election. Electing a pro-credit union Congress is critical to the advancement of the credit union movement,” said America’s Credit Unions’ Head of Political Affairs Trey Hawkins. “These champions understand the impact credit unions bring to 146 million Americans and work to secure policies that enhance that impact. This is why our PAC provides early and substantial support to ensure that credit union priorities are heard in the halls of Capitol Hill. America’s Credit Unions PAC is proud to support these champions and will continue to work to not just secure their return to Congress but expand our coalition even further.”
