Former CFPB deputy nominated as bureau director

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday the nomination of Brian Johnson as the next CFPB Director. Currently an executive at Capitol One, Johnson served as deputy CFPB director from 2018 to 2020, and as policy director and chief financial institutions counsel on the House Financial Services Committee.

"America's Credit Unions congratulates Brian Johnson on his nomination to serve as CFPB Director. Johnson has significant experience in financial policy, and a strong understanding of the importance of right-sized regulations,” said Scott Simpson, America's Credit Unions president/CEO.  “We look forward to the opportunity to work with Johnson in this capacity to advance reforms at the bureau, should he be confirmed."

Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought currently serves as acting CFPB Director.
