Credit union supporters continue to win races, post-election webinar today

With additional races called throughout the day Wednesday, credit union candidates continue to fill out a pro-credit union majority in the House and Senate next Congress. Registration is still open for America’s Credit Unions’ post-election webinar today starting at 2 p.m. Eastern, where the advocacy team will analyze what the results mean for credit unions in the next Congress.

As of late Wednesday, credit union supporters had won 331 out of 334 called races (311 House, 20 Senate), which includes 41 new members of Congress (35 House, six Senate).
Several credit union supporters were named winners Wednesday, including:

  • Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., defeated Democratic challenger Ashley Ehasz with 56.5% of the vote.

Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., another credit union supporter, was unsuccessful in his re-election bid, falling to Republican challenger Tim Sheehy.

The Credit Union Elections Hub will be updated as additional races are called, candidates are searchable by state, level of support, and whether or not they were competing for an open seat.
