Credit unions look to November election after successful primary cycle
The 2024 primary elections are now complete, with credit union supporters winning 99% of their primary elections with 326 out of 329 primary races (including 43 open seats). America’s Credit Unions and its PAC are working with Leagues and credit unions to support candidates through direct contributions, along with hundreds of meetings and events to continue building credit union relationships with policymakers.
The Credit Union Elections Hub contains state-by-state results for each primary race involving a credit union-supported candidate, indicating whether it is an open seat and whether the candidate has received additional support.
Notable primary wins include:
- Rep. William Timmons, R-S.C., overcame a strong primary challenge with 51.6% of the vote. He was backed by a $200,000 targeted advertisement campaign from America’s Credit Unions and the Carolinas Credit Union League. Timmons is a supporter of credit unions issues including protecting interchange, privacy, and reducing regulatory burden.
- Rep. Mike Bost, R-Ill., also won a tough primary, earning 51.4% of the vote. He was supported by America’s Credit Unions PAC and the Illinois Credit Union League with targeted ads reaching credit union-member voters.
America’s Credit Unions, its PAC, and state Leagues are shifting focus to the November general election, with more announcements about support of credit union champions, including seven-figure independent expenditures for several vulnerable champions, in the coming weeks.
The Credit Union Elections Hub will soon shift from primary results to the November election to show state-by-state results.
