Credit union-backed candidates win races in Illinois, Ohio

America’s Credit Unions PAC was involved in 24 primary elections in Illinois and Ohio Tuesday, with credit union-backed candidates winning all 24 races.

Rep. Mike Bost, Ill.—supported by America’s Credit Union PAC and the Illinois Credit Union League—won a close Republican primary against challenger Darren Bailey. Additional investments were made in this race to reach credit union member voters with targeted ads.

In Ohio’s 6th Congressional District, Republican Michael Rulli won the primary and special primary election to fill the seat left by retiring Rep. Bill Johnson. Rulli is backed by America’s Credit Unions PAC and the Ohio Credit Union League and will advance to the November general election, as well as a June 11 special general election to finish Johnson’s remaining term in the 118th Congress.

In California, Republican Vince Fong advanced to a May 21 special election to fill the unexpired term of former Rep. Kevin McCarthy. Fong also advanced to the November general election for a full term during a previous primary.
