Election Day success results in pro-credit union 119th Congress

With the outcome of some races still not determined, results available as of 12 a.m. Eastern Wednesday show that the 119th Congress will have a pro-credit union majority. America’s Credit Unions, its PAC, and Leagues invested more than $7 million in bipartisan support of credit union champions throughout the 2024 cycle.

“As a former Member of Congress, I know all too well the jitters that come from an election night,” said America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Jim Nussle. “America’s Credit Unions, in partnership with the credit union leagues, proudly supported candidates from both sides of the aisle who support the credit union mission of affordable and safe financial services for all. We congratulate those who will fill the halls of the 119th Congress and look forward to engaging on the industry’s top priorities like our federal tax exemption status and interchange.”

Credit union-supported candidates won 188 races (178 House, 10 Senate), including 28 open seats (22 House, six Senate) as of midnight.

Credit union campaign support included coordination with Leagues for several credit union
champions in tight races. That includes Reps. Angie Craig, D-Minn., and Zach Nunn, R-Iowa, who were declared the winners of their races as of early Wednesday morning.

Watch for ongoing updates to the Credit Union Elections Hub starting Wednesday morning, with additional results added as more races are called.
