Engaging on FCC order combatting fraud calls and texts with FCC

America’s Credit Unions advocacy team and other trade associations met with staff from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Wednesday to advocate for the adoption of a draft Report and Order that combats fraudulent and illegal calls and texts. The groups emphasized the impact of fraud on credit unions and other institutions.

The order was scheduled for consideration at last week’s Open Meeting but was pulled. The groups expressed interest in supporting future actions focused on stopping fraud before it results in losses.

America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Jim Nussle and members of the organization’s advocacy team, including Chief Advocacy Officer Carrie Hunt, met with FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel and Commissioner Geoffrey Starks earlier this year to discuss similar topics, part of an ongoing effort to engage with the FCC and other policymakers to ensure credit unions’ ability to contact members on time-sensitive matters.
