NCUA sets public budget hearing for Nov. 6

A public hearing on NCUA’s proposed 2026-2027 budget is set for Nov. 6, and America’s Credit Unions will request to present in person. The proposed 2026 budget is a 20.6% decrease from the 2025 budget, mostly due to reductions in agency staffing levels, contracted services budgets, and employee travel.

The NCUA’s 2026–2027 staff draft budget justification includes three separate budgets:

  • $292.4 million for the proposed operating budget;
  • $18.1 million proposed capital budget, including $10 million for implementation of the NCUA’s reorganization plan for 2026; and
  • $3.3 million for the proposed National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund administrative budget.

Written comments on the proposed budget are due to the NCUA Nov. 7.
